Edith Longden selected as Liberal Candidate for Blackbrook By-election2.00.00am GMT Thu 12th Nov 2009
Born and raised in Chinley, Edith now lives on Buxton Road with her husband and two small children. Her eldest child has recently started at Buxworth, where Edith also went to school. Edith is a qualified solicitor, although currently taking a break while the children are young. Most recently she worked as a social housing solicitor in deprived parts of Manchester. Edith married into a local farming family and besides helping with the animals enjoys country pursuits like sheepdog trials, walking and cycling. Accepting her nomination to stand as Liberal Democrat Candidate for the Blackbrook ward of High Peak Borough Council Edith Longden said:- "I firmly believe that the people best placed to judge local services are those who use them regularly. After 20 years of being too busy earning a living, now I am at home with the children for a time I am able to put something back into the community." "So when I was invited to stand as a candidate for Blackbrook in this by-election I was keen to accept." "If I had not accepted I would have forfeited the right to complain about local amenities ever again!" "That is why I am asking for your support."
