High Peak Constituency

The beautiful High Peak is the most north westerly corner of Derbyshire, nestling between the cities of Manchester and Sheffield. The High Peak covers a wide area taking in rural villages, urban towns and areas of heavy industry. Buxton is a spa town and is home to some of the most magnificent buildings in England. The Buxton Campus of the University of Derby is based in the refurbished Devonshire Hospital, famous for its superb dome.

The Liberal Democrats hold two Derbyshire County Council seats; Elizabeth Atkins represents the New Mills & Hayfield division and Barrie Taylor Whaley Bridge & Blackbrook division.

Liberal Democrats hold six seats on High Peak Borough Council which is run by Conservatives who hold twenty four seats. Our Borough Councillors are David Lomax. Mike Harrison, Steve Sharp, Ray Atkins, Linda Leather and Edith Longden.

Liberal Democrats control New Mills Town where our Councillors are Beth Atkins, Ray Atkins, Steve Sharp Chantal Hanell, Janet Carter, Alistair Stevens, Kevin Hawley and Glynn Jennings

There are three Liberal Democrats on Whaley Bridge Town Council - Linda Leather, David Lomax and Barrie Taylor
