Lib Dems take control of Stockport council

Great news from Stockport Town Hall tonight. At the annual meeting Lib Dem Leader Cllr Mark Hunter secured 31 votes while the Labour Leader got 25. The 28 Lib Dem Councillors were supported by the 3 Heald Green Ratepayers, while the 5 Tories and 2 Greens abstained.
This augurs well for winning the Cheadle and Hazel Grove Constituencies at the next General Election.
