The EMAS board decision to establish a mini hub ambulance station in the High Peak along with community ambulance posts has been welcomed by High Peak Liberal Democrat leader, David Lomax.

A New Year, same pain is the message coming from Labour Councils - mainly in the North. Looking at my old stomping ground of Levenshulme, Manchester - the cuts beggar belief. Labour's slash and burn approach to Municipal Governance has come to the fore. Levenshulme has fought off attempts to close their swimming baths three times - now the campaigners are out in force as Labour tries again.

Harry Burfoot, a long standing resident of New Mills and former Councillor, died at his home on 12th February aged 90. During the war he served in the Royal Airforce and met his wife Audrey when posted to Stockport, and they subsequently lived in Hazel Grove.
The "consultation" on the future of the Youth Service launched by the Conservative run County Council proposes closing every county youth club. The aim is to save £800,000 a year. This cut is already assumed in next year's budget.
Commenting on Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Norman Baker's announcement of £15m to boost cycling, including £8m for transport charity Sustrans to enhance cycle routes and £7m to make it easier for cyclists to use the railways, Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Party Committee on Transport, Julian Huppert said:
